For The Love of a Rose’s Scent | Op. 1, No. 5 - Ballad in G Lydian Composed and performed by Mrinank Composition Details: Opus: 1, No. 5 Key: G Lydian/Ionian Modal Mixture Style: Nature-inspired contemporary lyrical ballad Duration: ~5:30 This piece is the revised interpretation of my Op. 1, No. 5, For The Love of a Rose’s Scent, or simply called “Rose.” Like The Final Sakura, it has gone through countless small revisions over the past few months. Each subtle change in dynamics, touch, and timing brought the piece closer to the story I wanted it to express. Through these refinements, the music now captures the delicate essence behind its name: a moment so vivid that you can almost sense the scent of a rose through nothing but 88 keys. It is my take on a nature-inspired piece, told in my own voice. Rich harmonic resonance, a wide dynamic range from the softest piano to the most powerful forte, and a narrative woven from only a handful of recurring chords. History behind the piece: This work, like The Final Sakura, is not the first version of Op. 1, No. 5. The original was Op. 1, No. 5A – Nocturne in C Major (“Rose”) (Composition No. 7), but it did not quite convey the story I intended. I later created Op. 1, No. 5B – Rose (Composition No. 15), which came closer. Now, after extensive refinement, the “B” has been removed and the version presented here becomes the official Op. 1, No. 5.
