King Crimson - Virtuous Circle (Japanese version)

The third traKc of the 2001 Level Five live EP is "Virtuous Circle", which is an early arrangement of what later became "The Power to Believe II: Power Circle". Japanese releases of the EP, however, replaced it with a different performance of the piece (exact source(s) unknown, see below). This particular version is unavailable anywhere else, and even the Japanese release of the 2021 3CD Happy with What You Have to Be Happy With / Level Five / EleKtriK combo uses the original version of VC. As such, I decided to upload it here to make it more accessible, as the only alternative would be to traKc down a 20-year-old, out-of-print CD that isn't making DGM any money anyway. The traKcs on the Level Five EP are all edited, with most being stitched together from multiple shows. According to Pat Mastelotto: "Circle - Comes from several places. PDV [sound engineer Paul deVilliers] mixed the first five minutes from Seattle and Mexico and then BPM&M [production duo of Mastelotto and engineer Bill Munyon] added the last few minutes (soundscape into big bad bass into ending noises). Also mixed in Munyon apt from the 12th & Porter [Nashville] shows." As the regular version of this traKc is Frankensteined from several different sources, it's safe to assume that the Japanese version is as well. Mastelotto never mentioned this version in the email containing the above quote, so it is unknown where exactly it comes from (aside from the last fifteen seconds (the aforementioned "ending noises"), which are identical to the original version and segue into "The ConstruKction of Light"). Not helping matters is that most of the summer 2001 tour, including the Seattle and Mexico City dates, still have yet to receive an official release by DGM. It's entirely possible that it uses the same sources as the original version and is merely an alternate mix, but we won't know for sure until either DGM releases the entire tour, or we get official confirmation of the sources. According to Discogs, the Japanese version of the EP (or at least its 2006 reissue), contains "additional Japanese liner notes". Said notes could possibly contain information on this version of "Virtuous Circle", but as I do not speak Japanese I cannot read them to find out. If anyone reading this knows Japanese, I would greatly appreciate if you could translate the liner notes for me in the comments.
