See how each step should be performed. Video Transcript: After each Procedure: It's important after each procedure to clean and flush the system to ensure sterile operation for your patients. After each procedure, you should disinfect the handpieces according to the manufacturers instructions. If you used a carbide burr during the procedure, be sure to replace it with a new one. Once a carbide burr has been used, it does not posess the same sharpness as it previously did. Next, flush the system to ensure proper infection control and sterilization. To flush the system, first remove all handpieces that remove water by removing them from the hoses. Then, open the water needle valves located above the handpiece holders. Pull the end of the handpiece tubing over a container and depress the foot pedal. Allow the water to run for 20 to 30 seconds. Next, install newly disinfected handpieces and refill the water bottles if necessary.
