NOTE: Ending's drop in quality explained in the video annotations. Sorry, this game's HARD! As always, find everything LaserActive-related and more at our website, http://laseractive.wordpress.com Today at the LaserActive Preservation Project, we bring you our first recording of an NEC LD-ROM² Laseractive game! This is Vajra (a 1993 launch title for the NEC PAC-N10 in North America), a crosshair-based rail shooter in the vein of Pyramid Patrol or Space Berserker. Set over the course of 5 stages, the game is similar to the SNES title Battle Clash in that you fight one large boss-like enemy robot per stage, all while destroying their shots to keep from taking damage. Vajra does throw in a few interesting twists on the formula - you can split your crosshair into four smaller crosshair, which do less damage but make it a bit easier to block oncoming fire. In addition, your "vajra" (the items in the upper left) serve both as bombs - which destroy all enemy fire on the screen - and as healing items, restoring a bit of health when used. What's better than one Vajra? TWO Vajras! Expect the second game to be uploaded in its entirety soon... Thanks to Tom Porter for letting us borrow the hardware needed to play this title, as well as for the game disc proper. (Thank you to kiddocabbusses for your NicoVideo upload, which we have borrowed our ending from for the time being).
