The European Union has just wrapped up its first ever ‘Global Gateway’ summit, marking two years since it unveiled its new multi-billion-euro plan for public-private infrastructure investment. The bloc says it’s committed €66 billion to projects across the world under the scheme so far, with half of those funds allocated through grants. It's viewed by many as an attempted counteroffer to Chinese 'Belt and Road' investment in the so-called Global South. So is the EU up to the challenge? DW's Rosie Birchard reports from Brussels.
