Chippenham parkrun was filmed on Saturday 24 June 2023. I upload 3 speed formats to try and cater for most people. One is about 3 minutes long and about 13 times normal speed. The second is about 6 minutes long as is about 5 times normal speed and the last one is at normal speed and depends how fast I run on the day. On average it will be between 25 and 27 minutes for the run; this version can also be used as a virtual run on a treadmill. All details within the video and on this description (taken from the parkrun site) are correct at time of uploading. This was event number 406 and had 208 runners, joggers or walkers attended. This obviously does not happen without the amazing volunteers that showed up and gave their time, there were 26 in total. Course Description The run starts and finishes beside the river, 25m from the Olympiad Centre. The course is two anti-clockwise laps of Monkton park, then out along the river path, two anti-clockwise laps of the river loop, and back along the river path to the finish. It’s largely flat with one hill on the Monkton park loops, and run on a mix of grass, trail, gravel and tarmac paths. Any running shoe will suffice but trail should be considered following inclement weather. Facilities Toilets are available behind the pitch and putt tea room, in the Olympiad Sports Centre and in the Emery Gate. There is ample pay-and-display parking at the Olympiad car park (as well as Emery Gate, Bath Road and Borough Parade car parks). Location of start The run starts beside the river, 25m from the Olympiad Centre. Getting there by public transport Bus: Buses stop outside Chippenham Station, served by routes X31 and 231 from Bath via Box and Corsham; 92 from Malmesbury; 55 from Swindon via Wootton Bassett and Calne; 33 from Devizes via Calne; 234 from Trowbridge via Melksham. Train: Chippenham Station is on the mainline between London and Bristol with trains approximately every 30 minutes from each direction. There is also a service from Trowbridge. In case of engineering work please check the National Rail website. Getting there on foot From Chippenham Station: Exit by the ticket office, turn left on Cocklebury Road and then first right on Sadlers Mead. After approx 100 metres enter the car park, walk straight ahead and follow the path to reach the start alongside the river. (NB: take extreme care of moving vehicles in the car park) From the town centre: Either take the river path alongside 'The Rivo Lounge' at the bridge on the High Street, or take the river path from Emery Gate shopping centre and cross the pedestrian bridge.
