From Dublin, Ireland, Vernon Jane are one of the most exciting new bands to emerge on the Irish scene in recent years. They released their debut album, The Ritual Of Love Making – a concept album about intimacy, vulnerability, aggression and shame – in the spring of 2020 to widespread acclaim. Easy listening doesn’t get a look in. Vernon Jane are a live phenomenon of extraordinary energy and power, as well as superb musicianship. On the night, they featured the fabulous five: singer and guitarist Emily Jane (lead vocals and guitar); Cathal McKenna (bass); Niamh Casey (drums); Sean Cunningham (sax); and Joe Curtis (guitar). Their psychedelic, experimental-rock, jance – that’s jazz-dance – sound is influenced by the likes of QOTSA and Frank Zappa, as well as local Irish acts like Tongue Bundle and New Secret Weapon. "When you see your peers doing great stuff, it becomes a driving force, because when there's talented people around you, it really helps you and your creativity," says singer Emily Jane. Not that Vernon Jane need any help. As this powerful live performance at The Button Factory in Dublin attests, they really do have the magic...
