Stress vs Anxiety: When to cope and when to tolerate

Coping can be effective for managing stressful situations. Situations that have an identifiable problem and are time limited. It makes sense to cope when all we need to do is get through. Anxiety, however, is a different beast and is typically a problem of the future that does exist but "what if it does." That's why no amount of avoidance or reassurance helps us feel better, and why we seem to be anxious about the same things over and over. Anxiety requires tolerance.
