Welcome back! I've been making slow progress in my sewing room over the last week. Sometimes I'm very productive, other times I choose to do less... This week I would have liked to do a lot more, but cats stepped in to ensure that just didn't happen. I have been cat sitting for a friend, and trying to work with a quilt on my lap made me a magnet for two lonely cats. But, I will show you what I have managed! I took along a crochet hook and two skeins of yarn, and whipped up a scarf while pinned down by a cat. I don't need another scarf, but I have lots of extra yarn lying around, and it worked as a way to keep me occupied during cat naps. At home, my own cat has been sitting on my current hand quilting project. This is the green checkerboard quilt which I decided to keep when I realized I don't have any green quilts. But, once I started quilting it, I decided it needed a little something extra. So, I have been adding some green embroidery stitches to it, which means this one is taking longer than expected. I'll show you examples of how I do the feather stitch and a buttonhole stitch, which I'm adding to this quilt. Pam completed a little sewing job also, on a quilt we've shown before, purchased from the fabric sale at Ephrata. This was a striking quilt with red applique poppies, which had two large holes cut out of it. She secured a layer of batting within the holes, appliqued muslin patches onto the front and back, and added one green leaf to complete the design. It was an easy fix, and now it looks great! I have pieced together some pinwheels, but haven't got anything else done in my sewing room. Hopefully over the next week I will be free from snuggling cats and able to dive back into my projects. I hope you have a cat who prefers to sit beside you!
