Here is Knabe #100,854 with an Ampico model B system playing here in the shop. The piano was made in 1926 and is 6'4" long. The Ampico system has been upgraded to a model B by installing a drawer and expression system from a piano made in 1931. The original double valve model A player stack has been retained and modified to allow for the flow through necessary for the model B expression components. This recording by "Ralph Addison" is roll #215,731. The song was composed by Billy Hill and released in 1935. The soulful tune is well suited to the playing style Mr. Addison seems to prefer. Ralph Addison is one of Frank Milne's many pseudonyms he used to record his Ampico recordings. His style of play is most familiar to Ampico owners as he recorded so many popular titles. The roll is very late with an Ampico label on a Duo-Art style box. Probably made very near the end of Ampico roll production. One sort of wonders how Mr. Milne might have felt at the end of this era as it was clear to him that the lights would soon be out on his Ampico recording career. Ampico ceased production of Ampico pianos in 1941. Enjoy this outstanding long piano!
