This is, for my money, my absolute least favorite open ever used in the Philadelphia market. It's accompanied by my absolute least favorite graphical look used here (well, it's either this or KYW's 2003 non-look). It looks sterile. The open is a joke - two stock sequences from the look toolkit slapped with NBC 10 opens and text, bridged together with a transition and the soundtrack from the far superior previous open. It's an inexcusably poor rush job from what was then the number two station in the nation's #4 market. The graphics are only slightly better. There's elements here that I do like, but in comparison to the station's 2000 graphics package, it's a downgrade. The bulky, sparse lower thirds and the spartan blue and orange color scheme don't compare to the far more colorful graphics that were dumped for this standardization. Worse, this is when NBC began depriving the station of resources. Witness the broken news ticker. Or the weather graphics that are already hopelessly out of date.
