Windsurfing Hood River , Columbia River Gorge BIG DAY! Driving across the iconic Bridge of the Gods in howling winds over the Columbia River, I saw hundreds of windsurfing sails and kite surfers soaring across the water. Pulling into the parking area, the locals were buzzing with excitement, calling it the windiest day of the year so far! The wind was blasting at 30 to 50 knots, and as I made my way to the riverbank, the gusts nearly knocked me off balance. Speaking with some locals, including a former Olympic kitesurfer, it was clear this was turning into an epic day on the water, with many top riders out. I was stoked to have been there and capture the action with my camera!
