Graduation Day -- Ladybug Where do I begin? It started with one tiny, blurry photo that popped up on my rescue feed. She was apparently returned to a shelter due to limping, bloat, and ringworm. By the time I saw her, she had been at the shelter for some time. I shared her x-rays with some medical professionals prior to rescuing her. As a non-profit rescue, we have to make decisions based on our financial status, available rooms in our homes, etc. After reviewing her medical records, some recommended euthanasia. Unless she's seen by a vet, there was no way of knowing her condition. It is heartbreaking to rescue an animal then losing him/her. Time was not on our side. Deanne (my co-founder) and I discussed, and we quickly made the decision to get her out of the shelter and just figure out the rest later. We had just raised some money through fundraising, so we could afford medical care for this girl. Kim volunteered to help get her out (The kitten was 5 hours away from me), take her to a vet, and transport her to me. I prepared Kim that there was a chance we might have to say goodbye to her after we rescued her, but at least she'll be with someone who really cares about her. It was right before New Year's weekend, and most vet offices were closing. I was panicking. Kim found an emergency vet and took Ladybug there. The blockage turned out to be severe constipation. Constipation is no joke if untreated. She stayed at the ER overnight. The next day, she was as light as a feather and ready to go home. The only problem I foresaw was that she had to quarantine all by herself. Ringworm treatment can take 6 weeks up to a few months. She needed a friend-- a ringworm friend. I used to despise ringworm. It's a rescue's nightmare considering how easy it is to spread. This was the first time I searched for a ringworm kitten, and I finally found not just one, but two! I named them Ladybug, June Bug, and Honey Bee... together they were "The Bugs". The work behind the scenes was A LOT. Cleaning, sanitizing, feeding, vet visits, and socializing. But it is ALWAYS so rewarding when each of them finds a wonderful forever home. This time, it was for Ladybug. She will have two kitty siblings, one of which is a ginger boy that looks a little bit like Ladybug's first crush. Graduation for June Bug and Honey Bee: • Graduation Day -- Kitten School
