(6 Aug 1998) English/Nat Monica Lewinsky's day before a federal grand jury is over. The former White House intern gave grand jurors a first-hand account of her relationship with President Bill Clinton. A spokeswoman for Lewinsky says the former White House intern testified "truthfully, completely and honestly". Legal sources had said Lewinsky would testify she'd had a sexual relationship with the president and discussed ways of concealing it, but was never instructed to lie under oath. Monica Lewinsky left the courthouse in Washington on Thursday after several hours of testimony before a federal grand jury. Dozens and dozens of tourists lined the sidewalk to catch a glimpse of the former White House intern. Legal sources had said Lewinsky prepared to tell the grand jury that she and the president had a sexual relationship and discussed ways to conceal it. But, that she was never instructed to lie under oath. If that is indeed what she said, she'll have reversed her own sworn affidavit in the Paula Jones sexual harassment lawsuit against the president. It would also directly conflict with the president's own sworn testimony. At the end of the day, a spokeswoman for Monica Lewinsky made a short statement outside her attorneys' office. SOUNDBITE: (English) "Monica Lewinsky testified before the Grand Jury today. She answered each question truthfully, completely and honestly that was posed to her by the office of independent counsel and also questions that were posed to her by members of the grand jury. Monica and her family are relieved that this ordeal finally appears to be coming to and end. Thank you very much." SUPER CAPTION: Judy Smith, Lewinsky's Spokeswoman Meanwhile, Clinton gave the appearance of going about his business as usual. His deputy White House spokesman described his mood as "great". Lewinsky's appearance completed a deal struck last week that gave her and her parents immunity from prosecution in exchange for her testimony. Smith declined to say whether Lewinsky would have to return to the grand jury.
