Vaughan Vaughan is a city in Ontario, Canada with a population of 323,103 as per 2021 census. It is the fifth-largest city in the Greater Toronto Area, and the 17th-largest city in Canada. Vaughan is bounded by Brampton to the west, Richmond Hill to the north, Markham and Richmond Hill to the east, and Toronto to the south. Vaughan is well connected to Downtown Toronto through Subway. The township was named after Benjamin Vaughan, a British commissioner who signed a peace treaty with the United States in 1783. As per 2021 census major ethnicities in Vaughan are Italian 26.5%, Chinese 8.5%, Jewish 7.9%, Russian 5.7%, Canadian 5.5%, and East Indian 5.4%, and most reported religion was Christianity (53.1%), followed by Judaism (13.2%), Islam (7.4%), Hinduism (4.8%), Buddhism (2.4%) and Sikhism (1.8%). 17.0% of the population did not identify with a particular religion. Within the Greater Toronto Area, Vaughan is the third-largest employment center, after Toronto and Mississauga. Some of the attractions in Vaughan are Boyd Conservation Area, Canada's Wonderland, Canada's largest amusement park, Kortright Centre for Conservation, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Vaughan Mills, a large shopping mall opened in 2004, Other major cities around Toronto are Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton and Mississauga.
