This webinar was part of a series for National Careers Week, aiming to bring environmental careers to life through real stories and honest insights from professionals working across a wide range of roles and sectors. Within the "Land" theme, we explored careers linked to Land Contamination and Condition. We were joined for this webinar by three experienced professionals: James Kellett is an Engineer with Card Geotechnics Limited (CGL). In his role, based in CGL’s London office, James has gained hands-on experience in a range of projects. His work is varied, spanning both geoenvironmental and geotechnical disciplines, and he gets to enjoy a mix of complex ground investigations and interpretative reporting. Rebecca Hearn is co-director of Murray Environmental Limited and works in the land contamination field, with experience working on a range of former and active industrial sites including gas works and military sites. She is passionate about knowledge sharing and is an active member of the IES and the Society for the Environment Soils and Stones project team. As well as being actively involved these professional bodies, Rebecca volunteers time to Midlands Lands Events (MidLE), set up by Hearn and Midlands colleagues to support knowledge sharing amongst land professional in the midlands (UK). Fabia Pollard has a career spanning over 30 years in Environmental Protection and Contaminated Land and is a full Member of the Institute of Environmental Science. Fabia has worked in both the private ad public sector, the last 20 years as a Scientific Officer in the Environmental Quality Team at West Norfolk borough council. She studied part-time for her BSc in Environmental Earth Science and MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing at Greenwich University while working for Medway Council. Fabia contributed to the first guide to Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act and was among the local authority cohort who produced the Land Quality Management (LQM) Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) generic assessment criteria, and the Dose Response Tool for contaminated land risk assessment.
