Chuka Town sex workers have decried harassment by their customers and called on local leaders to come to their rescue. Led by their chairperson Betty Mukami, the sex workers said they have been facing a tough time while dealing with some customers who end up not paying them, assaulting them and others robbing them the little they have. They have asked the Tharaka-Nithi County Woman Representative Beatrice Nkatha to help them secure jobs which they can use to get a living and educate their children. The sex workers claimed that it has been difficult for them to get jobs in the town as many employers say they cannot employ prostitutes.
