Welcome to another video, this one is slightly different as for a number of reasons we are not away in the van 🥲. This was a Jet2 all inclusive package holiday, something we haven’t done before. So where are we…AR Imperial Resort and Spa, Calpe, Spain - W3W nature.homeland.honk The reception is lovely and clean with very welcoming staff. The rooms are individual bungalows complete with a TV, kitchen, balcony and air conditioning, however no cutlery or utensils in the kitchen… not even a kettle! There is a chance some apartments are self catering and have the relevant utensils…. We did ask for a keytle and cups and they were provided. They are starting to look a little dated on the outside, a good paint of all the buildings would finish it nicely. There are 3 outside swimming pools, 2 are mainly centred around children and then the main pool. There are pool activities most days such as aqua fit and polo. There is a pool bar in the main pool which was closed. There are plenty of deck chairs around. The pools are open 10-8. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is fresh salad, soup, meat and desserts. All is help yourself, including the drinks. There is a bar and snack bar which is open all day, most drinks are included in the all inclusive. These can be taken out onto the pool area. There is a roof top bar, however this was closed. On an evening there is entertainment in the outside bar area. Usually a children’s disco then live singers or karaoke or a quiz. There is a very relaxed atmosphere, you are welcome to lounge anywhere, dress code is casual. Staff are very friendly and happy to help. There is WiFi available in all the public areas. There is a spa under the hotel. Complete with pool, gym and many different treatment options Available. It is located at THE TOP of the hill overlooking Calpe. It is roughly a 2.5 mile walk to Calpe beach. The walk is through the housing estates no footpaths in places and narrow roads, not ideal in the dark (as we found out). There is a shuttle bus into Calpe, you need to book this at reception, it only carries 6 people so you have to be quick at booking it. Overall a nice hotel, however for us it is a little too remote…. If you are using taxis download the local taxi app… The app is called 1Taxi! https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/1taxi/i... Calpe is a beautiful beach, lots of lovely bars and restaurants and a nice board walk area. There are plenty of small campsites / motorhome parking areas here. They are all gated and have fencing round so you can’t see in. But they seemed to have decent access points handy for those larger vans. I have taken a few photos of the one we found only a 10 min walk from the town centre. Sol del Calpe Austral - W3W foil.decisive.premiums https://www.campercontact.com/en/spai... This looked a nice area, it has a nice reception and pool. Fairly wide entrance for the bigger vans. It appears is set over both sides of the road. We had a walk round, it’s a very nice motorhome area, all pitches are gravel and the roads are tarmac, the pitches are decent sizes, anything over a 7.5m van will probably need the 71-120m2 pitch. The pool area was nice, plenty of deck chairs and a bar area over looking the pool. It was a very tidy site, the reception staff were friendly, there are codes on the gates so it’s nice and secure. There is a small parking area at the front where a number of trailers were parked. Lidl is directly behind the site. We were so impressed we booked for next June! It is next to a small theme park, however when we walked past it wasn’t noisy. We stopped at Camping CalpeMar which is just down the road, however they can’t fit a 9m van on site…. So that was the end of that…. We had a couple of bad days weather… so we decided to hire a car and head off and look at other areas for future trips. We used Viva hire cars in Calpe…. There service was absolutely brilliant, they are a family run business and speak brilliant English, we just turned up and asked for a car, as it was mid morning they reduced the price slightly. You can also book online. The car was spotless. They offer free collection and drop off to and from your hotel. Very highly recommended. Their website it https://www.vivacars.es/en/ We did drive up to Denia, however unfortunately we were not that impressed, despite the lovely reviews. We also stopped at Xabia, this was a lovely sea front with plenty of nice shops and bars. Welcome to our channel - we still learning the social media ropes, so please bear with us. We wanted to share our adventures with you, including the campsites, pub stop overs, aires and wild camping spots we have visited, especially those with a tag axle, as we know not all sites are for us :(
