The Bell P-59 Airacomet was the first United States twin jet engine fighter aircraft manufactured by Bell Aircraft during World War II. The P-59 Airacomet was the first turbojet fighter to have its turbojet engine and air inlet nacelles integrated within the main fuselage. due to its poor performance the P-59 never saw combat however it paved the way for another design generation of U.S. turbojet-powered aircraft. The maiden flight of the P-59 Airacomet took place on the 1st of October. Primary users were the United States Army Air Forces, United States Navy and the Royal Air Force.
