Learn through this video what is the Bernoulli Equation, what is its simplified version, how do you measure it on the echo-doppler, where can you apply it, and what kind of recommendations can you make. Dr. Sharad Jaitly of MuniMeterHealth.com further explains in this video. Insight: Aortic stenosis (AS) is calculated by measuring the velocity jet just distal to the stenotic valve in M/sec by the c/w doppler usually in the apical view, squaring the value obtained and multiplying by 4 (the simplified Bernoulli) to arrive at the pressure-gradient in mmHg across the aortic valve. Same way, it can be applied to mitral regurgitation (MR) velocity jet going into the left atrium. It's a most valuable tool in echocardiography to assess AS or MR and important clinical and surgical decisions are made from these values obtained.
