Most cigar shops store cigars at around 70% - 72% RH, which can be too high for smoking & aging. I like my electric humidor to run at 68%. If you transfer cigars from the shop straight into your thermoelectric humidor, the extra humidity can cause a spike in humidity that could take days or even weeks to drop down to 68%, this disturbs your entire collection. 👉 My solution: Place your new cigars in a desktop humidor at 65% RH for 2 days. This stabilises their humidity before transferring them to your electric humidor. This method keeps your cigars aging perfectly while protecting your main humidor’s balance.
