Katie Cutter, Laura Lloyd and Jade Cutter were all born in Treherbert and have been involved with Valleys Kids for most of their lives. Katie attended from infancy, while Laura and Jade began through after-school clubs over 20 years ago. All three progressed through different stages of Valleys Kids, including after-school, youth clubs, weekend activities, volunteering and employment. They shared strong memories of play schemes, the old building, the play bus, and activities such as filming club, homework club, residential trips to Bryn Gwyn, beach visits, surfing and outdoor play. Despite basic facilities in the past, they remembered these experiences fondly and felt they were fun and meaningful. Valleys Kids provided them with a safe, supportive place to go after school, food, structure, and a sense of belonging. They agreed it made a significant difference to their lives and the wider community, especially as other local youth services have closed. They also highlighted its ongoing importance for their own children and future generations, describing Valleys Kids as a vital community resource that has supported families across generations.
