On Oct. 9, 2020, Khiara Bridges, Professor of Law at UC Berkeley School of Law, gave a profound talk on Critical Race Theory and current issues at an event sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UC Berkeley. Dr. Bridges has written numerous articles concerning race, class, reproductive rights, and the intersection of the three. Cal Professor Michael Omi, author of the seminal book, Racial Formation in the United States, introduced her. Professor Bridges's presentation is part of OLLI's "America's Unfinished Work" series, which features leaders on campus and in the community engaged in the examination and eradication of systemic racism to create a more humane, just and equal society. OLLI @Berkeley offers curated courses and speaker events that showcase the best, most relevant scholarship flourishing on our campus and in our community — ideas and insights informed by today’s news, tailored for learners with decades of lived experiences. An OLLI @Berkeley membership opens up a world of discovery for older adults passionate about acquiring new and deeper knowledge and understanding, and who relish doing so in community with 3,000 other lifelong learners. Along with gaining exclusive access to our courses, members also enjoy opportunities to participate in groundbreaking research, as well as in special programs, Interest Groups, activities and educational outings.
