Hello from Russia! 🇷🇺 An extreme train journey across Russia to Yakutsk, the world’s coldest city and capital of Sakha Republic, where temperatures drop below -50°C (-58°F) and travel becomes a true test of endurance. We begin our journey with the Railways of Yakutia in a Platzkart carriage on the Amur Yakutsk Mainline ( AYaM ) built on permafrost, linking the Trans Siberian Railway, Baikal Amur Mainline ( BAM ), and the Far Eastern Railway with the Sakha Republic. Traveling from Tynda to Nizhniy Bestyakh, a crucial stop on this remote railway built on permafrost terrain. From there, the only way to reach Yakutsk—which has no direct rail connection—is by taking a bus across a frozen Lena River, navigating Siberia’s extreme winter conditions.
