ITM 2022 Keynote: Traffic Jams, Autonomy, and Lagrangian Control

By Prof. Alexandre Bayen, Director of the Institute for Transportation Studies, University of California Berkeley This talk explores the opportunities offered by the gradual integration of automated vehicles into the existing traffic system, and in particular the use of Lagrangian control of traffic flow at local scale (vehicular level). Dr. Alexandre Bayen conducts research in modelling and control of distributed parameters systems, with applications to transportation systems (air traffic control, highway systems), and distribution systems (water distribution networks). His research involves control of systems modelled by partial differential equations, combinatorial optimization, viability theory, and optimal control.
