December 16, 2014 (Persian calendar 1393/9/25) Malek-e Ashtar University of Technology (دانشگاه صنعتي مالك اشتر) http://www.mut.ac.ir Experts at Iran’s Malek-e-Ashtar university دانشگاه مالك اشتر, affiliated with the Defense Ministry, managed to produce two new products for the military application as part of efforts to boost the country's defense capabilities. The products include an advanced composite material known as prepreg and a site for re-measurement of a radar’s cross-section, which have been chosen as the university’s two greatest achievements in the current Iranian year (began on March 21, 2014). The term prepreg is an abbreviation for the phrase pre-impregnated. A prepreg is a Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) that is pre-impregnated with a resin. The other achievement was a site for re-measurement of military radars’ cross-section. Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan سردار سرتيپ حسين دهقان, during a ceremony held at the Malek-Ashtar University of Technology to mark Iran’s “Research Day روز پژوهش”, paid tribute to the university experts' achievements. Dehqan said prepreg is used in the body of missiles and the rotor blade of helicopters, and could also be utilized in production of wind turbines and pressure vessels.
