No flights. No taxis. No pre-booking of any kind. So, how far can I travel in 500 Minutes? Welcome to the 5, 50, 500! A new type of travel series where I put 3 timers on the clock and try to get as far as I can from a random location in the world. They say it's about the journey, not the destination... So let's see if it's true! In this episode, the very first 5, 50, 500 travel challenge - I try travelling as far as I can across Europe’s most popular island and beyond. But I didn’t want to make it too easy. 📸 Follow me on Instagram - ryanhalltravel In the past, I’ve always carefully curated my adventures - whether I’m visiting all 4 UK countries in 24 hours or climbing the UK’s smallest mountain - I normally follow my itinerary pretty closely. Which is why I set myself three golden rules to help keep things completely spontaneous and improvised. In the early morning, I started my mission on the south coast of Mallorca, the most visited island in Europe - where it immediately became clear that covering any serious distance wasn’t guaranteed. You see, July is high season in Spain - and most public transport tends to sell out in advance. Not to mention that walking and running under the extreme summer heat would be extremely tough at times. Luckily for me though, Majorca has is actually very well connected - and I felt pretty confident that the many buses, trains and ferries could carry me to either the Spanish mainland or another of the Balearic Islands. But of course, it didn't quite go to plan... So it’s safe to say that this Spain travel challenge took me in some unexpected directions to cover as much ground as possible - across roads and seas, to deserted Spanish towns and stunning Roman ruins. I’d love to turn this idea into a travel challenge series, so I can start compiling a leaderboard of my times from different locations. In fact, I've already recorded two more of these in Turkey and Japan, so if that’s something you want to see, make sure leave me a comment!
