Breathtaking, pre-war footage of the former German city of Königsberg in 1440p resolution. This immersive video brings us back in time to East Prussia in the late 1920s and 1930s, shortly before the destructive events of WW2 claimed this once beautiful city to ruins. Königsberg was the historical capital of the Kingdom of Prussia before it was moved to Berlin in 1701. The city was unfortunately lost as a consequence of the second world war and the entire region of East Prussia was partitioned (split) and annexed by Poland and the Soviet Union following the agreement established by the allies during the Potsdam conference in 1945. The city was mostly repopulated by Russians and Ukrainians after the war and it was renamed as "Kaliningrad" in 1946 after the passing of Bolshevik leader Mikhail Kalinin. It's incredibly rare to find pre-war footage of Königsberg, let alone ones that have documented the various locations of the city in detail. The films used in this video were digitized and edited by Maximus and History.
