Composer John MacCallum and choreographer Teoma Naccarato, have been working together on a collaborative project exploring choreographic and compositional environments for real-time interaction with biosensors at IRCAM. The project aims to create poly-temporal compositions that discover multiple timeframes and ways of experiencing time during performance. Dancers control the tempos of each piece with their heart rates, sending their ECG data to an underlying clock for each musician as they perform live. They are joined by Aaron Einbond and his work on Creative Audio Mosaicing, for a live improvisatory performance onstage at #MTFParis. Creative Audio Mosaicing is a project using tools drawn from Music Information Retrieval (MIR) to create new music for acoustic instruments and electronics. The project uses CataRT, a tool developed by Diemo Schwarz at IRCAM that analyses sounds timbral qualities in real time to make manipulating and interacting with digital sounds more intuitive. Performers use gestural controllers to interact with the tactile elements of sound live. http://musictechfest.net @musictechfest
