What is health information exchange? Why is it important? Health information exchange (HIE) is the ability to securely share health information electronically. In this video, CUNY SPH Assistant Professor Karmen S. Williams shares examples of how HIE can reduce duplicate testing and build comprehensive health records. HIE is centered around patient-centered data homes, which provide more informed care for patients with real-time access to health records anytime, anywhere.
