Polls Don't Lie - Party of Regions Poised to Win 10/28 Parliamentary Elections

Polls don't lie. And polling numbers can't be used subjectively when they only benefit Ukraine's political opposition. In 2004, the orange revolution swept to power based on exit polling data showing Viktor Yushchenko with a slim lead over then candidate Viktor Yanukovych. The opposition took to the streets and seized the presidency based on these poll numbers. Yet, with poll after poll after poll showing the Party of Regions with at least a four percent lead over other political parties prior to the October 28 parliamentary elections, the opposition is crying foul. The opposition's whisper campaign to invalidate the results has already begun. Before a single ballot has been cast. How can this be? Why is the opposition shocked that Ukraine's voters support the Party of Regions? With popular social programs such as salary and pension raises, and the language bill - as well as pragmatic foreign and energy policies - Ukraine's voters can say they are far better off now than they were before Viktor Yanukovych's election in 2010. Following the orange revolution, Kiev burned - while Yushchenko and Tymoshenko fiddled. With the overwhelming success of Euro 2012, Party of Regions increased its lead over the opposition by at least four percent according to numerous polls conducted by Rating Group, Research and Branding, SOCIS, and KMIIS. As the opposition bickered amongst themselves and failed to develop a cogent campaign platform to present to voters, Party of Regions' lead has increased. Recent polls, including one conducted by FOM-Ukraine, show Party of Regions with a nearly 10 percent lead over the nearest competition. Polls don't lie. Neither do voters who want a government that delivers on promises. On October 28, Ukraine will choose between action and empty rhetoric. Ukraine needs stability. Ukraine needs economic growth. Ukraine needs the Party of Regions.
