In mid November of 2024, Northern New Mexico got an early winter storm, leaving behind a couple feet of snow. I ventured up to Northern New Mexico, hoping to get some snow shots of Amtrak's Southwest Chief, traversing the Raton and Glorieta Passes, and I'm very happy with the results! Raton Pass is home to the last operational semaphore signals in North America. 11 total of these signals remain, at four different control points and intermediate points between Colmar and Wagon Mound, on the BNSF Raton Pass line. Time will only tell how long these historic signals remain for, but getting them in the snow was definitely the highlight of the trip! Also included are various shots of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, in and around Santa Fe, NM. This unique commuter railroad is relatively undershot, and has one of the more unique paint schemes around!
