フンボルトペンギン/広島市安佐動物公園/Humboldt Penguins/Asa Zoological Park, Hiroshima 今回は広島市安佐動物公園に住むフンボルトペンギンの紹介です。 This time we will introduce the Humboldt penguins that live in Asa Zoo in Hiroshima City. 撮影日：2026年2月13日 Photo taken on February 13, 2026 広島市安佐動物公園ホームページより 【分類】鳥綱　ペンギン目 　ペンギン科 【生態】 南米のペルー沿岸に生息。雌雄で番となり、自分で掘った横穴や自然にできた洞窟内に巣をつくり、産卵する。卵は約40日で孵化する。現地では餌となる魚（イワシ）の乱獲等の影響で生息数が、1万羽程度まで減少し、ワシントン条約の付属書Ⅰに指定されている。日本国内では多くの園館で飼育下繁殖に取り組んだ結果、1900羽以上に増加したため、血統管理が重要視されている。 Humboldt penguin [Classification] Aves, Sphenisciformes, Penguinidae [Biology] They live off the coast of Peru in South America. Males and females pair off, building nests in holes they dig themselves or in naturally occurring caves where they lay their eggs. The eggs hatch in approximately 40 days. Due to overfishing of their food source (sardines), their population has declined to around 10,000 birds, and they are listed as Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In Japan, captive breeding efforts at many zoos and aquariums have resulted in a population increase to over 1,900 birds, making pedigree management a key priority.
