Here's a live video performance of Bach's a minor Fuga for Solo Violin from his Sonata No. 2. Inasmuch as this is an update to my interpretation of Bach’s a minor Fuga, it is also a tribute to those violinists whose renditions I hold in the highest esteem. To say that “taking on Bach’s violin works is challenging” is truly an understatement. I’d like to think since my live rendition in 2002, I’ve been able to make a fresh interpretation, hopefully more insightful, remaining “true to self”, but as well somehow retaining some sense of musical integrity. I hope at some point I could record a studio album of these works. Something about live performances in terms of energy and “living in the moment” brings forth (hopefully) a certain vibe that one cannot recapture in a studio album recording. I hope you find this enjoyable. It remains an ever-humbling element playing any solo violin repertoire, but especially that of Bach, whose works remain the cornerstone of the solo violin repertoire.
