One of my favorite albums of the 2020s—I go into Afropessimism, colonialism, Ethiopia and Eritrea, Zimbabwe, anti-Blackness, and African culture. Aethiopes (Αἰθίοπες) is an ancient Greek term that historically referred to people from Africa, particularly those with dark skin. The word itself is derived from aitho (to burn) and ops (face), roughly translating to "burnt-face." The term was used broadly in Greek literature to describe various African civilizations, often with a mix of admiration and mythologization.
