A large number of #resins are used in #composites industry for producing fiber reinforced products (#FRP). These are used is daily life and specialized applications like #automobiles, #aerospace, #civil and #medical industries. resins are classified as #thermoset and #thermoplastic. Utilization of Both types of resins is projected to increase exponentially from year 2026 to year 2032. #Polyester resins are the most cost-effective option for general purposes, while epoxy and high-temperature resins like bis-maleimides (#BMIs) and #polyimides offer superior performance for demanding applications like aerospace, at a higher cost. #epoxies' lower shrinkage rate is advantageous in molding, while polyesters cure quickly which benefits high-volume production. This lecture very briefly discuss the properties, processing techniques and products manufactured from ten different #resins.
