The Stellar Falcon - Does It Go?

I've finally got my hands on the new Stellar Falcon intermediate surfski and you can tell from first sight that it's very much of Stellar's new generation design, mirroring the sleek outline of the SEA. On my second day with the ski the conditions were perfect to give it (and myself) a good workout. Here at Fishguard, in far west Wales, when the NW'ly wind blows and the ebb tide is running you can guarantee 'interesting' conditions as soon as you paddle those nearly 2km to get outside the breakwater. Friday's chop was spectacular, all the waves were 6-8ft with occasional 10ft beasties. That's the way to test a ski! You can see from the video that the Falcon behaved excellently, like a well-designed ski should. Its inherent stability (47.5cm wide) and manageable length (5.95m) made getting out into the rough stuff nothing more than hard physical work, From there it's all downhill, as they say! This Falcon is in the Excel layup, Kevlar/Nomex and around 11.5kg, light to carry, stiff and robust enough to punch trough rough water and easy to accelerate onto the runs. I have to say that I was getting fairly tired after a long hour of hard driving, but it was worth it!
