WELCOME to Mahabad😍 Let's walk through this beautiful city Today I'm going to bring you on a special Tour Through Meydni Menguran Bazaar a part of Traditional Bazaar . Mahabad, also Romanized as Mihābād and Muhābād, is a city and capital of Mahabad County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 168,000 in 31,000 families. The city lies south of Lake Urmia in a narrow valley 1,300 metres above sea level. Mahabad Bazaar was established at the end of the Safavid period by the order of the ruler of Makrian region, Badaq Sultan Makri. This market reached its peak of development during the Qajar period due to trans-regional growth connections. During this period, in addition to the Kurds, other groups such as Jews, Armenians, Assyrians, as well as merchants from different parts of Iran were engaged in trade and commerce in the Mahabad market. Mahabad Bazaar is about 350 years old. Major parts of this market were destroyed by fire twice and rebuilt twice at different intervals before the revolution. After the revolution and during the Iran-Iraq war, the Mahabad market was bombed and damaged. The two bazaars of Mangoor Square (fruit sellers' bazaar) and Ard Square (grass market) complemented the traditional Mahabad bazaar. Qaisaria and Ard Maidan were also the oldest parts of Mahabad Bazaar. On February 14, 1973, the Mahabad bazaar caught fire due to the negligence of one of the merchants of the Qaisari bazaar. A number of goods of one of the merchants fell on Aladdin's lamp, which when the lamp overturned, the shop caught fire and the fire spread to the surrounding area as soon as possible, burning Shafei Bazaar and part of Caesarea. Mahabad Bazaar had the houses of Mirzar Rahmat Shafei, Karim Khan, as well as several caravanserais named Simon, Mosulian, Naraghian, etc. In 1973, the Mahabad bazaar caught fire and most of its spaces were abandoned, and as a result, other damages were inflicted on it. At present, only Mirza Rahmat Shafei Bazaar and Simon Caravanserai are left from the dynamic market of that time. Simon Caravanserai belongs to the Safavid period and was built by order of Badaq Sultan, the ruler of Mahabad.
