18 ఏళ్ల ఆయేషా మీరా కేసు మళ్ళీ | RAVI REPORTS | One of India’s most haunting and long-standing criminal cases — the Ayesha Meera rape and murder case — is once again in the news. After 18 years of prolonged investigation and heartbreak, the CBI has finally submitted its final report in a sealed cover to the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The case, which first shocked the nation in December 2007, involved the brutal rape and murder of 17-year-old pharmacy student Ayesha Meera in a girls’ hostel near Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada. She was found dead in the Sri Durga Ladies Hostel, a place presumed to be safe for students. In 2008, police arrested P. Satyam Babu, who was later convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, in 2017, the High Court acquitted him, declaring him innocent, raising serious concerns about false implication and botched investigation. The case was subsequently transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Now, after years of silence, the CBI has submitted new crucial findings, reigniting public and media attention. But for Ayesha Meera’s grieving parents, the pain hasn’t eased. “It’s been 18 years. We’re still waiting for justice. We want the real culprits punished,” they said in tears, urging the judiciary to deliver long-overdue justice. This case remains a symbol of delay, denial, and determination — where justice delayed has become justice desperately awaited.
