Duke Bo of Zheng, known as Duke Zhuang of Zheng, was the first lord to establish hegemony during the Spring and Autumn Period and a pioneer in the strategy of "holding the Son of Heaven hostage to command the feudal lords". He was also the eldest son of Duke Wu of Zheng, the ruler of the State of Zheng. In the early Spring and Autumn Period, the power of the Zhou royal family declined, and the forces of various feudal states gradually rose. It was precisely with his extraordinary political wisdom and forbearing foresight that Duke Zhuang of Zheng gained a firm foothold in the turbulent times and became a highly influential feudal lord in the early Spring and Autumn Period. His suppression of the rebellion led by his younger brother, Gongshu Duan, fully demonstrated his resourcefulness of "to catch something, first let it go, and wait for the right moment", making it a timeless historical allusion.
