Among the hardest places hit was the Chinese Culture University campus, located on Yangmingshan. The university called off classes after 3 p.m. and has moved classes online starting Tuesday. These university students were on the way to class on Monday morning. It was already raining quite heavily. Chen Yao-chi FTV reporter You can see how strong the storm is. It’s due to the combined strength of Tropical Storm Fengshen and northeastern seasonal monsoons. Taipei already had torrential rains starting on the evening of Oct. 19. Due to the heavy rain, Chinese Culture University announced the suspension of classes starting at 3 in the afternoon, and for classes to go online starting Oct. 21. Student Chinese Culture University It was already pretty heavy in the morning. But they only suspended classes at three. The announcement came a bit late. I wish they had made it earlier. A long line forms at the bus stop by students eager to travel downhill and seek shelter from the storm, or for student living in the dorms, to stock up on supplies. Some other universities were also hit hard by the downpours. The outdoor steps at Tamkang University now have a waterfall. The roads on campus have also become streams. A netizen joked that they finally found the river mentioned in the university’s Mandarin name. National Chengchi Univerisity, located in Taipei’s hilly Wenshan District was also affected. Corridors running uphill had water gushing down, making for an arduous trek back to the dorms.
