Judaica Project: Judaic Textile Arts with Ruth Simon McRae

Textile artist and designer Ruth Simon McRae shared her work, especially a series of 24 tallitot using various techniques including collage with vintage materials. Her artistic work includes painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, ceramics, and especially textile arts. We discussed the intersection of vintage textiles, Judaism, and art. The Judaica Project is a collaboration between JHSGNH and the Peter C. Hereld House for Jewish Life at Quinnipiac University. It revolves around a series of monthly dialogues on Judaica, Jewish art, and what these mean to us. This series is made possible by a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven.
