I have compared this model to an actual Peavey Invective about a year ago when Metallurgy was released. I noticed this problem then, and when it was released for Helix, the problem is still there. While the Invective was in my possession, I compared it to my 5150 and 6505 - they are extremely similar amps if you don't use any of the extra features. I don't have the Invective to compare with any longer, but the Invective's crunch channel is the same as an original 5150 circuit's crunch (with a post gain). In this example I am using an original 5150 Block Letter. The real Invective amp does not behave like this once you reach high gain sounds, nor does any working 5150. Despite this, I'm still expecting someone to point out that the Invective "isn't a 5150" and somehow this is what an Invective crunch channel is supposed to do. Anyway. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate that it sounds broken so it can hopefully be fixed. This is not a useful or intended sound of that amplifier - if the real amp sounded like this, you'd take it to get serviced.
