Who is Y Khemchand Singh, BJP’s new Manipur Chief Minister?

Yumnam Khemchand Singh has been elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party in Manipur, paving the way for him to become the state’s next Chief Minister. A Taekwondo practitioner and the first Indian to earn a 5th Dan black belt in traditional Taekwondo, Singh has represented the Singjamei constituency since 2017. His political journey began in 2002, and he joined the BJP in 2013, later serving as Speaker and cabinet minister in the Manipur Assembly. Singh belongs to the Meitei community.
