Because of all the miraculous healings, he was seen as a healing evangelist, but the most common method of healing was demonstration of the word of knowledge causing his faith an the faith of the one needing prayer to rise and healing was the result. He wasn’t an educated man, and his biggest criticism came because of some questionable doctrine at the end of his life that he simply didn’t have the education to assess correctly. Some label him “false” or “heretical” because of this, but knowing growth and grace, we can just reject the wrong teaching and then learn from where he was right. And there was none like him in the ministering of the word of knowledge. There are many more sermons recorded, and they showcase his Kentucky accent and folksy style, and contain many good testimonies and stories from his very unique supernatural life. But its the recordings of the prayer lines after the message that are the faith building stand out. You can hear him lay hands or stand near the one seeking prayer, and hear him describe what that the Spirit shows him about them or their situation. Then, you can hear them respond or shout in response, testifying to it accuracy, and celebrating as he says, “go on your way and be healed.” Again, you won’t hear much teaching on how to grow in doing it, because like the rest, they sort of stumbled onto it or had powerful individual experiences with Heaven themselves. We don’t need to read the couple verses about it or its demonstration any more in scripture—we know now, so next, we get comfortable with it. Feed your brain with so much of this demonstration that it begins to understand it as normal. Let your mind get used to the idea of one person receiving detailed words of knowledge for another, and expect faith to rise and more miraculous to occur. Thank God when you hear of the healings and blessings that were experienced.
