Omar Franco, Dominican singer and songwriter, is one of the Dominican romantic ballad singers who appeared in the 80s. Omar Franco was born in the city of Castañuelas, in the province of Monte Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, but spent most of his childhood, until reaching adulthood, in the city of La Vega. His musical genres are Latin pop, romantic ballads and Latin romantic music, among others. In 1979, he recorded his first LP with the RCA Víctor record label in Mexico. That same year he participated in the eighth edition of the OTI International Festival (OTI 1979), in Caracas, Venezuela. Other achievements in his career: “Best Interpreter” Award, song composed by Leonor Porcella de Brea "Come and Hug Me" at the "Eighth Festival of the Dominican Song" of AMUCABA, held at the "National Theater (February, 1982). In December 1982, he participated in the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar", in the National Theater, playing the role of Jesus Christ. In February 1983, he won the "El Dorado" award, as a male singer, in his country, Dominican Republic, for his accumulated merits in 1982. In November 1983 he participated in the television show "Siempre en Domingo", by the famous Mexican producer Raúl Velasco in Televisa, Mexico.
