James Dyson Award 2017 UK National winner - Petit Pli

24-year old Ryan Mario Yasin, a recent Royal College of Art student, has won the UK James Dyson Award 2017. Ryan’s invention, Petit Pli, is a series of garments which have been heat treated to incorporate permanent structures which allow the material to expand in both directions – meaning the same item of clothing can fit children from six to 36 months. Ryan will receive £2,000 to develop Petit Pli and will progress to the international round of judging – to compete against the best award entries from around the world. Ryan’s ambition is to commercialise Petit Pli, and continue to focus on solving problems in the fashion industry by applying his engineering know how.
