It's August 26, 1989 and we are having a blast of a day in the lower Hudson Valley. Conrail train NHSE is caught east of Fishkill, NY crossing route 52 and then route 9 at Fishkill and heads down the hill into Beacon. At Beacon, the SENH is arriving. The crews will swap trains with the big six axle power to head back to New Haven and the "baby boats" back to Selkirk. What a day to be in Beacon! Back then, Turboliners ruled the Amtrak trains and there is not a "Genny" in sight and won't be for a couple of years to come. After the passenger trains clear out, the freights get to leave. First the NHSE clears the Beacon branch and then the SENH puts on a show grinding it's way up the hill through downtown Beacon. So sit back and enjoy the show as seen through the video camera of my step father, Jim Dundon. Back then I may have been a bit critical of his camera work, but that's all out the window now. I'm sure glad he got this! ENJOY! Tim
