SUNRISE HIKING THE UPPER TWO MEDICINE LAKE LOOP TRAIL | GLACIER NATIONAL PARK | MONTANA STATE

Like the video? Be sure to subscribe to the channel by clicking here:    / @dannyjschaefer   It's June 29th, 2021 and Tessa and I took a road trip vacation to explore beautiful Montana State. Our last and final hike for our vacation took us to Glacier National Park where we day hiked into Upper Two Medicine Lake out of 'East Glacier Park.' This hike can be a little confusing to explain.. but here goes: There are three "Two Medicine Lakes" in this part of Glacier National Park. There is a Lower Two Medicine Lake, then there is Two Medicine Lake (the middle lake), and finally there is Upper Two Medicine Lake. Upper Two Medicine Lake was our destination to hike to, and the trailhead starts from the middle of the three lakes - Two Medicine Lake. Confused yet? I bet. There are multiple trails that take off from Two Medicine Lake, and what we've researched and learned is that Upper Two Medicine Lake is one of the most scenic lakes in all of the park - and less popular. The trail begins at the South Shore Trailhead, and scurries along the southern shore (go figure). You'll eventually reach the end of Two Medicine Lake, and will come to a junction that continues on the main trail, or leads you down to the Prey Shelter Boat Dock. The boat dock area was beautiful, and if desired one could book a ferry to the end of the lake and then begin the hike to Upper Two Medicine Lake from here if desired. This will cut off some significant mileage from the trip. Off the top of my head, I believe it was right around 1.5 or 2.0 miles to Upper Two Medicine Lake from here. If you were to continue on the trail, you would eventually come to Twin Falls - a beautiful little waterfall that only helped define the scenery that Glacier National Park has to offer slightly more. About a mile from these falls, you'll reach Upper Two Medicine Lake. Get ready, because the views were top notch. We spent approximately an hour here, before heading back on the trail. We opted to take the North Shore Trail back to Two Medicine Lake for a change of scenery and to make the trip a loop. This was optional, but nice. The North Shore Trail was more forested and treed in, so the views weren't as nice as the initial hike in.. however on a hot day, this may be the way for you to go. And that's it! I highly suggest checking this hike out for yourself if you ever find yourself in the area.
