Leslie's first experiment with multichime horns was to group two or more Tyfon horns on a common manifold. This was not very successful, and so in 1951 Leslie licenced a design from Sweden, modified it a bit and introduced the Supertyfon line of horns. The first chords offered were the S3J and S5D. These horns sounded the same chord as the Nathan Airchime M3 and M5 respectively, and because of this Nathan threatened a lawsuit over copyright infringement. Bowing to pressure and also desiring to expand their offerings, Leslie redesigned the Supertyfon horns in early 1953, and unfortunately the S3J and S5D were disconnected.
